Eric Benet is an R & B singer songwriter whose talent is somewhat overshadowed by bad behaviour to a point where he may never be popular again. He was born Eric Benet Jordan Apr. 15, 1966 in Milwaukee. He first surfaced in a group with his sister Lisa & cousin George Nash Jr. called Benet. They released one unsuccessful CD on Capitol in 1992 but it was here that Eric met jazz fusion panist Jeff Lorber and he went to work for him as a vocal arranger. He signed with Warner Bros. and though his 1996 debut True To Myself didn't sell, the 1999 follow up A Day In The Life hit big. This was mostly due to this video Spend My Life With You which benefits from a great performance by Tamia. Benet married actress Halle Barry in 2001 and the marriage was a mess mostly because of Benet's bad behaviour. He has also tried acting and his 2005 CD Hurricane didn't sell. Eric Benet clearly has talent but is lacking charisma. Maybe he should stop performing and stay behind the scenes writing & producing for others.
