Here's the match video of Hikaru Shida defending her AEW Women's Championship against Britt Baker. So Britt got this title shot mostly by talking. Her wrestling skills are mediocre at best. Despite that, a title change was probably going to happen here. But I don't think Britt is a good enough wrestler to carry a title. I thought if they were going to make a change it would have happened at the tournament. But Britt didn't even make the finals. So what has happened since then? Britt had that garbage match with Thunder Rosa. And though she lost, Britt got a lot of praise for that match though Rosa carried her. That match got Britt a lot of momentum. This match is OK but doesn't change my mind about Britt Baker. Look, she been a wrestler for several years. She should be much better in the ring by this time. But she isn't. Hikaru carries this match as she has with all her opponents. My main problem with this match is the multiple false finishes. The WWE does this on PPVs too. There must have been a half a dozen false finishes. Once Rebel clobbered Britt accidently with the crutch, that should have been the finish. Anything after that makes no sense. It also shows they really wanted to do a title change. Also, I don't like Britt's Lockjaw finisher. When Mick Foley did it, it was a comedy prop. The guy who invented that move was a 60s wrestler/dentist named Dr. Sam Shepherd. I'm sure Dustin Rhodes knows about him. Fans thought wrestling was real back then. Some moves translate well to today's wrestling. That move doesn't work today. It's not a credible finisher. But it shows how stupid AEW has been about their women's division. And now that Britt Baker is champ, I expect it to get stupider. Enjoy the video!
