AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Point of Grace

Artist:Point of Grace

Song:Steady On...

Album:Steady On...

Point of Grace was one of the most successful CCM acts of the 90s. They had a long string of CCM chart toppers and two Platinum albums. Their music is a mix of country and pop. Point of Grace was formed in 1991. Denise Masters, Terry Lang and Heather Floyd are all from Norman, OK. They were attending Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, AR. and were in the campus vocal group The Ouachitones. The three were spotted singing as a trio and it was suggested they form a group. They added Shelley Phillips to make it a quartet. Shelley was Denise's roommate and she was attending OBU on a vocal performance scholarship. They called themselves Say So. They performed on weekends. After winning the Grand Prize at the 1992 Music in the Rockies Christian Artists seminar in Colorado, Word Records signed them and changed the group name to Point of Grace. They moved to Nashville. They had immediate success with their 1993 debut album Point of Grace and the #1 CCM single I'll Be Believing. This began a long string of hits until 2002. They even published an autobiography with Simon & Schuster. The 1996 album Love & Other Mysteries was Point of Grace's first Platinum album. It was produced by Michael Omartian. For the 1997 album Steady On..., they worked with veteran CCM producer Brown Bannister. That album was also certified Platinum and the single Steady On... topped the CCM chart. The song was written by veteran producers and music execs Grant Cunningham and Matt Huesmann. Steady On... is available on CD. The success continued until Terry Jones retired in 2003. She was replaced by Leigh Cappillino who is the wife of the group's musical director. Heather Payne retired in 2008. She was not replaced. Point of Grace continue as a trio. They still tour and record. They just aren't as popular as they were in the 90s. The latest Point of Grace album was released in 2018. Here's the video for Steady On... by Point of Grace.
