Sax player Steve Cole has been a regular on the jazz charts since he made his recording debut in 1998 on Atlantic. He currently records for a smaller label but he has a loyal smooth jazz following. He was born Aug. 17, 1970 in Chicago. His father played clarinet. Cole studied clarinet as a child and switched to sax in high school. He studied classical sax at Northwestern University and earned an MBA in economics. Cole played as a sideman in local Chicago clubs. When he started playing with smooth jazz keyboard player Brian Culbertson, Cole got a record deal with Atlantic. Culbertson produced Cole's three Atlantic albums. Cole wrote Got It Goin' On. It's from his 2000 album Between Us. Culbertson produced and played keyboards.
