Artist:Stuart Damon w/Lesley Ann Warren

Song:Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful?

Album:Cinderella

Stuart Damon is best known for his many years playing Dr. Alan Quartermaine on the daytime soap General Hospital. But before that he starred as The Prince in this 1965 CBS TV production of the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical Cinderella. He was born Stuart Michael Zonis Feb. 5, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY. His parents were Russian Jewish immigrants. Damon started out on Broadway in musicals like Irma La Douce (1960) and The Boys from Syracuse (1963). Then he got the call to do Cinderella. This show had been previously produced for TV in 1957. CBS decided to do this new version with Lesley Ann Warren as Cinderella and Damon as The Prince. They would have been considered as newcomers at the time. Ginger Rogers, Walter Pidgeon and Celeste Holm were also in the cast. The show was a huge ratings success. For many years it was the highest rated non sports special. Cinderella can be streamed on Amazon Prime. I think it's on my watchlist. The cast album is available as a budget CD. Damon moved to England and appeared in the musical Charlie Girl with Anna Neagle. He was also in the ITV TV series Champions. He returned to the US in the 70s and he played Dr. Alan Quartermaine in the daytime soap General Hospital from 1977-2007. He won a Daytime Emmy in 1999. He also played this character in the spinoff Port Charles. Then he appeared in As The World Turns and Days of our Lives. So he's known mostly for soaps but Cinderella gave him his start. Here's Stuart Damon with Lesley Ann Warren performing Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful from the 1965 CBS TV production of Cinderella.
