The Southern Gospel group The Talleys have been around since the 80s. On recent songs like this 2018 single Grab Your Umbrella they have attempted to mix contemporary sounds with the usual Southern Gospel sound. Like many Southern Gospel groups, The Talleys are a family group. They are from Nashville. Siblings Roger, Diane and Kirk Talley formed The Talley Trio in the late 60s. They split up after recording a couple of albums. Roger and Kirk joined The Hoppers. Roger married Debra in 1978 and she joined The Hoppers. They left that group to form The Talleys in 1983. They recorded several albums for Word's Canaan label. It looks like Roger and Debra wanted to retire in 1993. So The Talleys disbanded and Kirk went solo. But when Roger and Debra's daughter Lauren expressed interest in getting into the music business, The Talleys reformed in 1996. They signed with Horizon Records. Since then they have mixed contemporary music with their usual Southern Gospel sound. That can be heard on Grab Your Umbrella from the 2018 album Finest Hour. Lauren has recorded solo since 2001. After releasing the 2020 album The Music Goes On, Roger and Debra announced their retirement. Lauren Talley will continue as a solo artist. Here's the video for Grab Your Umbrella by The Talleys.
