AccuRadio Song Of the Day-Nice and Wild

Artist:Nice and Wild

Song:Diamond Girl

Album:Freestyle's Greatest Hits

The 1986 single Diamond Girl was a big enough hit in clubs that Atlantic Records picked it up for distribution. Nice and Wild recorded an album. And that was it. The main controversy about this song is no one seems to know who is actually singing on Diamond Girl. There are four producers behind Nice and Wild. Joe Granda is from Hialeah, FL. The other guys seem to be from New York. We have Arthur Lammoglia, Gary Henry and Marvin "Pretty Boy" Floyd. Based on the credits, Henry produced most of the album. He was the most experienced of the producers. But Diamond Girl was recorded in Florida by Granda. Floyd co-produced. What could have happened is Granda recorded the song in Florida and Henry finished it in New York. After Diamond Girl reached #20 on the dance charts, the album Energy, Love and Unity was released. Nice and Wild were unable to score another hit and this was their only album. You can get the album as a digital download but Diamond Girl is on this various artists comp. So who is singing on Diamond Girl? There are several singers on the album but they are not individually credited. Because Granda recorded Diamond Girl in Florida, my guess is John Minnis is the lead singer with background vocals by Henry and Granda. Minnis is based in Florida and when Granda attempted to revive Nice and Wild in 1995, Minnis was the main singer. So Granda and Minnis are buddies. Here's the video for Diamond Girl by Nice and Wild featuring John Minnis.
