Artist:Eddie Santiago
Song:Lluva
Album:Celebracion: Epic Duets
Eddie Santiago is a salsa singer who ushered in the Salsa Romantica sound in the late 80s. Lluva was his biggest hit. He was born Aug. 18, 1961 in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico. Santiago began singing at age ten. As a teen, he sang with Generacion 2000, La Potente Orchestra, Opus Orchestra and the Saranguey Orchestra. In 1984 Santiago and Willie Gonzalez were lead singers of Conjunto Chaney. Santiago left in 1986 and signed with Rodven Records. Lluva is from the 1987 album Sigo Atrevido. The single reached #4 on the Latin charts and the album was a big success despite criticism that it was too commercial. It was also nominated for a Grammy. Lluva was written by Argentinian singer songwriter Luis Angel. The album was produced by veteran producer Frank Torres. Santiago continued to have success in Latin America. This budget CD is a good intro to his music. Santiago last recorded in 2006. I think he still tours but of course not right now. Here's Eddie Santiago performing a medley of his hits including Lluvia 1988.
