Here's the match video of Miranda Maverick vs Gillian Robertson from last night's UFC show in Las Vegas. This fight is at Flyweight. Gillian has been in the UFC for a few years now and she isn't getting anywhere. She's 25 years old from Niagara Falls, ON. She trains in Florida with Din Thomas. Gillian is a wrestler. But her striking isn't good enough to get her where she needs to be on the ground. She has talent but she needs to win fights. Miranda is 23 years old. She's a student at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. She trains at The House of Muay Thai owned by Jake Chamberlain. Her head coach is former UFC & WEC Featherweight Mackens Semerzier. He last fought for the UFC in 2012. The UFC signed her after she won one of those Invicta one night tournaments. She won her UFC debut in Oct. Round one shows that if Gillian can't get ground control, she's in big trouble. Miranda outstrikes her and then takes her down and controls her. I scored it 10-9 for Miranda and so did all three judges. Gillian did better in round two. She got top position and controlled Miranda for most of the round. I scored it 10-9 for Gillian. Miranda got loose near the end of the round and landed a couple of strikes. Two of the judges gave Miranda round two 10-9 which is very poor judging. Allowing round stealing is irresponsible judging. In the end it didn't matter because round three was a repeat of round one. I scored it 10-9 for M,iranda and she won the fight 29-28. Two of the judges scored it 30-27 and the third scored it 29-28 for Miranda. I don't know what will happen with Gillian. We need to see some improvement from her. Miranda should face a ranked opponent next time out. She said her weight cut was difficult and she is big for a Flyweight. I would not be surprised to see her move up to Bantamweight. Enjoy the video!
