Of course Toby "TobyMac" McKeehan is best known as the leader of the pioneering Christian hip hop group dc Talk. But he has had great success as a solo artist since they split up. Made To Love is one of his two number one Christian Rock hits. He was born Oct. 22, 1964 in Fairfax, VA. He formed dc Talk with Michael Tait in 1987 while attending Liberty University. After a great run, they split up in 2001. McKeehan's debut solo album Momentum was released in 2001. Yours was a top five Christian hit. McKeehan won five Dove awards and he was nominated for a Grammy. Made To Love is from the 2007 album Portable Sounds. It topped the Christian Rock chart. The album reached #10 on the Billboard Hot 200 and was certified Gold. He was nominated for two Grammys and he won two Dove awards. McKeehan writes and produces most of his songs usually with his band. He wrote Made To Love with guitarist Cary Barlowe and drummer Jamie Moore from his band along with Aaron Rice. Portable Sounds is available as a budget CD. McKeehan continues to have success. His latest album The Elements was released in 2018.
