AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Matt Redman

Artist:Matt Redman

Song:10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)

Album:Sing Like Never Before: The Essential Collection

Singer songwriter Matt Redman has had decent success in CCM since the mid-90s. But the 2011 single 10,000 Reasons transcended that and almost crossed over to pop. It got him enough attention that he won a couple of Grammys. He was born Feb. 14, 1974 in Watford, England. His father died when he was seven years old. After his mother remarried into an abusive relationship, Redman became a Christian at age ten and then became a worship leader as a teen. He also learned to play guitar. Redman made his recording debut in 1994. He and his wife moved to Atlanta and signed with sixstepsrecords with Sparrow/EMI distribution. Chris Tomlin is also on that label which is owned by Louie Giglio. Redman had modest success until he broke through in a big way with the 2011 album and single 10,000 Reasons. The single topped the Billboard Christian Singles chart for 13 weeks. It won two Grammys and several Dove awards. And the album was certified Gold. Redman wrote a book inspired by the song. It was the biggest CCM hit of 2011. Obviously the song is very anthemic which is why it was a hit. Redman wrote 10,000 Reasons and several other songs on the album with Swedish songwriter Jonas Myrin. After the success of this song, Myrin launched a solo career. This budget comp has all of Redman's hits. Redman moved to Integrity Music in 2019 and released his latest CD Let There Be Wonder in 2020. Here's the video for 10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord) by Matt Redman.
