AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Pink Mountaintops

Artist:Pink Mountaintops
Song:The Second Summer of Love
Album:Get Back

Pink Mountaintops started out as a solo project for Black Mountain leader Stephen McBean. But he decided to turn it into a band so he could tour when Black Mountain was off. The Pink Mountaintops sound can best be described as neo psychedelia. McBean is from Vancouver. He had been in bands since the 80s. But his late 90s band Jerk With A Bomb recorded three albums for the indie label Jagjaguwar. They became Black Mountain in 2003. So while they have been very successful, McBean was recording in his home. As I said, he gave it the name Pink Mountaintops so he could turn it into a band. A lot of the songs on their 2004 debut CD were left over from Jerk With A Bomb. I guess he didn't want them to go to waste. Then when Black Mountain became popular on the indie scene, fans discovered that Pink Mountaintops was led by the same guy. McBean moved to Los Angeles in 2010. He still records and tours with Black Mountain and Pink Mountaintops. The Second Summer Of Love is from the 2014 CD Get Back. It was produced by Joe Cardamone. He was in the 90s band The Icarus Line and he is now a producer. This is the latest Pink Mountaintops album. Black Mountain released a CD last year. It's not clear if McBean plans to record as Pink Mountaintops in the future. The website is kaput so probably not unless Black Mountain goes on hiatus as they did a few years ago. Here's the video for The Second Summer of Love by Pink Mountaintops.
