We'll Sing In The Sunshine was a top five pop hit in 1964. It was the only big hit for singer songwriter Gale Garnett. Some of her other songs charted but We'll Sing In The Sunshine is the only memorable one. She went on to an acting career and novelist. She was born July 17, 1942 in Auckland, New Zealand but she moved with her family to Toronto when she was 11 years old. She moved to Los Angeles and she appeared in TV shows like Hawaiian Eye, 77 Sunset Strip and The Real McCoys. After performing in the New York nightclub The Blue Angel, Gale signed with RCA Records. She was opening for Miriam Makeba who was on RCA and had recorded a few of Gale's songs. We'll Sing In The Sunshine was released in Oct. 1964 and it reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also won a Grammy for Best Traditional or Folk Recording. The record was produced by RCA house producer Andy Wiswell. Gale released an album My Kind of Folk Songs. But We'll Sing In The Sunshine wasn't on the album. It was only released as a single. Gale released several albums on RCA but she was unable to score another hit. Gale moved back to Toronto and appeared on Canadian TV shows and films like The King of Kensington and the film My Big Fat Greek Wedding. She has also written romance novels. In recent years she has performed a couple of one woman shows. Gale Garnett was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2015.
