Artist:Kierra "Kiki" Sheard
Song:This Is Me
Album:This Is Me-Special Edition
20 year old gospel music sensation Kierra "Kiki" Sheard is the personification of the old saying "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree". Her grandma was gospel music pioneer Dr. Mattie Moss Clark and her mom is Karen Clark Sheard of the legendary gospel group The Clark Sisters. Kiki is as fabulous as her mom. She first surfaced at nine years old singing on her mom's 1997 CD Finally, Karen. I don't usually like the idea of putting little kids on records but Kiki didn't sound like a kid. After appearing on her mom's other CDs, she signed with EMI Gospel at age 17. Her 2004 debut I Owe You showed her unbelievable talent at a very young age. This new CD This Is Me continues that. Obviously she has a great voice just like her mom but she has also inherited instincts that can't be taught. This Is Me is a beautiful song written and produced by veteran producer Uncle Freddy Jerkins. Other producers on this CD include her cousin J. Moss & PAJAM, Warryn "Babydub" Campbell, Keyon Herrold, Antonio Neal & Tommy Sims. They can't wait to work with her. Also her brother J. Drew Sheard Jr. plays drums in her band. This Special Edition of the CD has bonus live tracks. Kiki Sheard is so accomplished at age 20, I can't wait to see what she's like in five years. Here's Kiki Sheard's wonderful video for This Is Me. Check out the guitar work of Akil Thompson.
