JWP did an afternoon/evening double shot at Itabashi Green Hall on Apr. 8 for the first round of the Discover New Heroine II tournament. This was the 1996 AJW tournament that paired a veteran with a rookie. A JWP team won the original. Sachie Abe was pulled from the tournament and replaced by KAZUKI. She teamed with Misaki Ohata. Abe has some sort of problem with her eyes and will undergo a doctor's examination. She's been scratched from the Apr. 15 show too. All tournament matches are scheduled for a 15 minute time limit.
Let's start with the afternoon show. Aki Kanabayashi & Mai Ichii defeated Kaori Yoneyama & Kaori Ohki. Ichii over Ohki with a Comet Kick at 10:49. Kanabayashi & Ichii both work for Kaoru Ito. Toshie Uematsu & Rei defeated Megumi Yabushita & Yuri Urai. Rei over Urai with a horizontal cradle at 11:51. Tsubasa Kuragaki & Shuu Shibutani defeated Sakura Emi & Miki Ishii. Shibutani over Ishii with a diving senton at 11:47. Ishii works for Ice Ribbon. Finally Nanae Takahashi & Natsuki*Taiyo defeated KAZUKI & Misaki Ohata. Taiyo over Ohata with a reverse splash at 14:24. A six woman match was added. Commando Bolshoi, Kayoko Haruyama & Leon defeated Azumi Hyuga, ECO & Arisa Nakajima. Leon over Nakajima with the Leon Stone at 16:20.
The evening show started with Misae Genki & Aya Yuki over Ran YuYu & Hiroyo Matsumoto. Genki over Matsumoto with a lariat at 14:05. Yoshiko Tamura & Ayumi Kurihara defeated Tanny Mouse & Bullfight Sora. Kurihara over Sora with a reverse hurricanrana at 10:26. Incidentally, Bolshoi said it was NEO president Koda's idea to use Sora as a gag. In a singles match, ECO defeated Leon with a modified shubain at 5:53. Back to the tournament. Kayoko Haruyama & Aoi Kizuki defeated Yuu Tamagata & Cherry. Haruyama over Cherry with a diving guillotine drop at 11:00. Finally Azumi Hyuga & Arisa Nakajima defeated Yuki Miyazaki & Nagisa Nozaki. Nakajima over Nozaki with a Cutie Special at 13:37. Another six woman match was added. Commando Bolshoi, Kaori Yoneyama & Kaori Ohki defeated Tsubasa Kuragaki, KAZUKI & Shuu Shibutani. Yoneyama over Kuragaki with the luna wing at 15:02.
Round two of this tournament will be Apr. 15 at Korakuen Hall. The matchups are Misae Genki & Aya Yuki vs Toshie Uematsu & Rei, Tsubasa Kuragaki & Shuu Shibutani vs Aki Kanabayashi & Mai Ichii, Nanae Takahashi & Natsuki*Taiyo vs Kayoko Haruyama & Aoi Kizuki and Yoshiko Tamura & Ayumi Kurihara vs Azumi Hyuga & Arisa Nakajima. Apparently there will be a eight woman match on the show with the teams announced at the show. Participants imclude Commando Bolshoi, Azumi Hyuga, Kayoko Haruyama, ECO, Leon & Arisa Nakajima.
