Of course Karen Clark Sheard is one of the greatest singers today with a legit four octave range. She's from the legendary Clark Sisters. Her mom was a great singer and so is Karen's daughter Kiki. But we almost lost Karen in 2000 when she almost died during a hernia operation. That's what the 2002 comeback album 2nd Chance is all about and Karen is just fantastic. She works with several producers and I Won't Let Go is written & produced by Donald Lawrence, one of Karen's favourite collaborators. The Chicago choir New Direction also appear. The whole album is masterful with producers like Karen's cousin J. Moss, Missy Elliott & Mike City lining up to work with her. Karen is now with Word Records and released a new album in 2006. Her music is well worth seeking out.
