Artist:Miles Davis
Song:Autumn Leaves
Album:The Best Of Miles Davis
When most people think of Miles Davis, they think of his recordings on Columbia. That's understandable because he was there for thirty years but he made great music for Prestige, Blue Note & Capitol in the 50s. This comp is a good introduction to his Blue Note recordings. Blue Note is cheating a bit with this beautiful version of Autumn Leaves. It's actually from the 1958 Cannonball Adderley classic Somethin' Else and was recorded long after Miles left Blue Note. Other musicians on the session were Hank Jones on piano, Sam Jones on bass & Art Blakey on drums. Most jazz fans will likely have Somethin' Else already. The Best Of Miles Davis is recommended for beginners only.
