The idea behind the Oct. 20 Smackgirl show at Nishi-chofu Arena was to have their annual amateur tournament called the Grappling Princess League. But they didn't get enough entries so they had to add some other matches to fill out the card. This included a special exhibition match featuring Yuka Tsuji. Don't get too excited about that. Her match with Edge was just that so I'll move on to other things.
The last time we saw masked fighter Berry 15 she was being carried from the ring after being knocked out by Hisae Watanabe. She's back but she's not wearing the mask anymore. Her opponent in this main event was rising star Eri Kaneya. She did very well in the recent grappling tournament. Kaneya was very aggressive in this match but Berry 15 came back and scored her own points. Kaneya won a split decision. In a Middleweight bout, Mizuho Sato won a unanimous decision over Benkei. Both were part of the recent Next Cinderella tournament. In another Middleweight bout, Hiromi Obata defeated Harumi by unanimous decision.
The Smackgirl Grappling Princess League only had three entries so they did it round robin style, I think. SACHI won a unanimous decision over Ayumi Funakoshi. Then Asami Kodera dominated SACHI 14-0. The final had Asami Kodera defeat Ayumi Funakoshi by arm bar at 3:27 of round one. It looks like Kodera is very well trained. Smackgirl also announced that their next show will be Nov. 29 at Korakuen Hall. A Flyweight match between Bisa Takimoto & US figher Lisa Ward has been announced.
