Artist:Muddy Waters
Song:Rock Me
Album:Blue Skies:The Best Of Muddy Waters
Like a lot of blues artists from the Mississippi delta, McKinley Morganfield AKA Muddy Waters had to go to Chicago to find fame and fortune. And his records on Chess in the 50s are blues classics. By the 60s and into the 70s, Waters career had stalled and he was largely forgotten. But popular blues/rock guitarist Johnny Winter was a huge fan and got Waters a contract with Columbia distributed Blue Sky Records. Waters took this opportunity to prove that he still had "it" and proceeded to make three albums as good as anything from his prime. Voila, a career renaissance. Blues Skies is a reasonable comp of his Blue Sky stuff but there are others out there and you should get his Chess recordings first anyway. Muddy Waters died on April 30, 1983 at age 68. He's a true legend of the blues.
