Artist:New Grass Revival
Song:Big Foot
Album:Best Of
New Grass Revival took traditional bluegrass and mixed it with jazz and other things. The group started in 1972 but became more popular in the 80s when they signed with Liberty Records. Sam Bush & John Cowan brought in banjoist Bela Fleck & mandolinist Pat Flynn. They started appearing on the country charts and the Fleck composition Seven By Seven was nominated for a Grammy in 1987. This comp is a good intro to their 80s music. Big Foot is a Fleck composition from the 1989 CD Friday Night In America. This was their final CD before they split up. Most of the guys do sessions but Fleck has been very successful with his group The Flecktones. New Grass Revival were innovators to the point where this style of music is called New Grass. Here's New Grass Revival performing Seven By Seven on Nashville Now in 1987.
