This year in NASCAR we've seen a lot of owners bringing in outside partners with very deep pockets. It started in February when Jack Roush sold majority ownership of Roush Racing to John Henry of the Boston Red Sox. Then Ray Evernham did the same with Montreal Canadiens owner George Gillett Jr. Then Hall Of Fame Racing sold out to the owners of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Michael Waltrip brought in New York businessman Rob Kaufman. Last week, Mike Mulhern of the Winston-Salem Journal reported on his video blog that Jacques Villeneuve and his manager Craig Pollock are planning to buy majority ownership of Bill Davis Racing. Of course Villeneuve is driving a Toyota for Davis in the 2008 Sprint Cup. Davis didn't deny it but he didn't confirm it either. Mulhern reports today that the deal is done and Villeneuve & Pollock are now majority owners of Bill Davis Racing. Villeneuve finished 14th in today's Craftsman Truck race in Atlanta. Here's Mike Mulhern's video blog from last Sunday when he first reported this.
