The British band Scars on 45 have had success when songs were placed on TV shows like Grey's Anatomy. Take You Home is one of four songs that charted on Billboard's Adult Alternative chart or as they call it AAA. After two albums on major labels, Scars on 45's latest album is on their own label. Scars on 45 are from Bradford, England. Danny Bemrose is the lead singer and songwriter. When a broken foot ended his plans for a pro football career, Bemrose began to write songs with another aspiring footballer Stuart Nichols. After bringing in pianist David "Nova" Nowakowski, They started playing local clubs and released an EP. They brought in Nowakowski's friend Aimee Driver to share vocals and drummer Chris Durling. They had trouble coming up with a band name. Bemrose heard an Emmylou Harris interview where she talked about scratching her father's records and he yelled at her for getting scars on his 45s. Their big break came when CSI: New York music supervisor Alex Patsavas placed Beauty's Running Wild on the show. They signed with her Chop Shop label distributed by Atlantic. This is where most of Scars on 45's success came from. Heart on Fire appeared on the Grey's Anatomy Vol. 4 soundtrack album. They released their debut album Scars on 45 in 2012 and they toured to support it. Songs continued to appear on TV shows. The problem was Atlantic closed Chop Shop and Scars on 45 was forced to find a new label. The 2016 album Safety in Numbers was released on Nettwerk Records. Though Take You Home charted, the album didn't have the same success without Patsavos putting songs on TV. And Aimee announced that though she would continue to record with Scars on 45, she would no longer tour. They released the 2018 album Satellite Town on their own label. They hire a singer for touring. Scars on 45 will be of interest to folk rock fans. Safety in Numbers is available as a budget CD. Here's the video for Take You Home by Scars on 45.
