AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Margo Price

Artist:Margo Price
Song:Four Years Of Chances
Album:Midwest Farmer's Daughter

Margo Price is a critically acclaimed country singer songwriter. She has recorded for small labels so she hasn't had the commercial success she deserves. She is definitely worth checking out. She was born Apr. 15, 1983 in Aledo, IL which is a small town in the western border of Illinois. Country singer Suzy Bogguss is from Aledo. Margo sang and played piano in church. She was studying dance and theater at Northern Illinois University. She dropped out of school and moved to Nashville in 2003. Margo did what a lot of aspiring country artists do. She worked day jobs and worked on her music with husband Jeremy Ivey. They write songs together. He currently plays bass in her band. They had a couple of bands but Margo and the Pricetags got some attention as members included Sturgill Simpson and guitarist Kenny Vaughan from Marty Stuart's band. Margo recorded Midwest Farmer's Daughter at Sun Studios in 2015. She financed it herself. She heard that Jack White was a fan so she sent him a copy of the album. He liked it so much that he signed her to his Third Man label and released the album in 2016. Margo appeared on Saturday Night Live, Later with Jools Holland and Charlie Rose. The album was critically acclaimed and appeared on several Best of 2016 lists. Unfortunately there was no hit single so Margo didn't get that big breakthrough. Margo's voice is pure country but her band led by Ivey has 70s soul elements. She writes all her songs sometimes with Ivey. Other musicians include Matt Ross-Spang on guitar, Micah Hulscher on piano and Dillon Napier on drums. This album is available as a budget CD. Margo signed with Loma Vista which is owned by Concord. Her new album That's How Rumors Get Started should get better distribution. Sturgill Simpson produced and plays guitar. As with the first album, Margo wrote all the songs either by herself or with Ivey. Get on the Margo Price train before she inevitably becomes a star. Be ahead of the curve. Here's Margo Price performing Four Years of Chances at Sun Studios 2016.
