AccuRadio Song Of The Day-DaBaby

Artist:DaBaby
Song:Suge
Album:Baby on Baby

Rapper Jonathan "DaBaby" Kirk can be a big star if he stays out of trouble. The 2017 single Suge was a big hit and then he followed it up the 2020 chart topper Rockstar featuring Roddy Ricch. He was born Dec. 22, 1991 in Cleveland but he grew up in Charlotte, NC. He got into petty crime as a teen. He was a big fan of 50 Cent and Lil Wayne. Kirk started rapping in 2014. He released a bunch of mixtapes as Baby Jesus. His big break came when he signed with South Coast Music Group owner Arnold Taylor. Taylor has been a major developer of rap talent in Charlotte. The first thing Taylor did is he got Kirk to change his name to DaBaby as Baby Jesus was not marketable. Kirk continued to release mixtapes until he signed with Interscope. Suge is from his 2019 debut CD Baby on Baby. Obviously the title is a reference to Suge Knight. This song and several other songs were produced by Tahj "JetsonMade" Morgan. He has worked with several Carolina rappers but Kirk has been his biggest success. Suge reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was also nominated for two Grammys. Then Kirk was involved in a shooting where the victim died. He was charged but he claimed self defense. The charges were dropped but he was fined for carrying a concealed weapon. Kirk's other big hit was Rockstar from his latest album Blame it on Baby. He is no longer working with Morgan who looks to launch his own recording career. His producer is now Dejuane "DJ Kid" Dunwood. This was his first production. In Jan. 2020, Kirk was involved in an assault in Miami. He was charged with battery. As I said, there is no question Kirk has talent. But he needs to behave better or he will wind up in prison. Here's the video of Suge by DaBaby.
