Here's the fight video of Sam Hughes vs Stephanie Luciano from last night's UFC show in Las Vegas. This fight is at Strawweight. Sam is 32 years old from Seattle. She's improved since she began training with Sayif Saud at Fortis MMA in Houston. But she will never be anything more than a prelim fighter. Her UFC record is 4-5. She tends to alternate wins and losses. Stephanie is 25 years old from Belo Horizonte, Brazil. She trains at Gordin Fight Team. She won her UFC debut after her DWCS fight was a draw. I expected this fight to be close as neither is a finisher. Round one was close. Sam started out OK but Stephanie came back in the second half of the round. I scored it 10-9 for Stephanie but it could go the other way. Sam won round two 10-9. It was borderline 10-8. But it shows that Sam has no idea how to finish fights. Stephanie won round three 10-9. If she had fought that way earlier in the fight, she would have won easily. I scored the fight 29-28 for Stephanie. Sam won by split decision. Two of the three judges scored round one 10-9 for Sam and one judge scored round two 10-8 for Sam. It was also Sayif Saud's 100th victory. So congratulations to him. I guess it could be said that Stephanie let this one get away. Enjoy the video!
