Lilla Crawford was the star of the 2012 Broadway revival of the musical Annie. Of course this musical was first performed in 1977. And of course the main question is what happened to them after Annie. Lilla was born in Los Angeles in 2000. She started appearing in commercials at age six. She says she begged her mother to get her an agent as she wanted to be an animated voice. Lilla moved to New York to appear as Debbie in the 2011 closing cast in the musical Billy Elliot. Director James Lapine was going to produce a new production of Annie in 2012. Typically, he goes on a nationwide casting search to find the new Annie. Lilla won the role over 5,000 other girls in a span of nine months. A dozen girls were brought in for the final callback. Others in the cast included Katie Finneran as Miss Hannigan and Anthony Warlow as Warbucks. The show ran from Nov. 2012 to Jan. 2014. Lilla left in July 2013 to appear in the 2014 film of the Stephen Sondheim musical Into the Woods. The original cast album is available as a digital download. Since then Lilla has appeared on TV, most notably the 2018 Netflix show The Who What Was? Show and a recurring role in the HBO Max show Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. Some of the girls who played Annie have not had long careers. It's too soon to tell for Lilla Crawford. Here's Lilla Crawford performing Tomorrow on ABC's Good Morning America 2012.
