AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Tait

Artist:Tait

Song:Lose This Life

Album:Back 2 Back Hits

Tait was a CCM band that probably would have been successful if they had remained together. They only recorded two albums. It's hard to keep a band going when guys keep leaving. The leader of Tait was former dc Talk lead singer Michael Tait. He was born May 18, 1966 in Washington, DC. Tait met Toby McKeehan in high school and they met Kevin Max at Liberty University. They formed the very successful band dc Talk. Tait met Chad Chapin in 1996 and they started writing together. They decided to turn it into a band after dc Talk went on hiatus in 1999. Guitarist Pete Stewart had worked with dc Talk so he was brought in. Chapin brought in his brother and former Petra bassist Lonnie Chapin. They signed with ForeFront Records which by this time was owned by EMI. They released the 2001 album Empty. Tate and Chad Chapin wrote most of the songs and Tait and Stewart produced the album. For the 2003 album Lose This Life, Stewart left to go solo and was replaced by Justin York. Mark Heimermann was brought in to help Tait produce. He had worked with dc Talk. Again, Tait and Chad Chapin wrote most of the songs including Lose This Life. It was at this point the band started falling apart. Lonnie Chapin and York left. If the replacements had stayed, Tait could have continued. But it became a revolving door and Tait ended in 2007. ForeFront released this budget comp in 2012. There were plans for a third Tait album but it was not finished. Tait joined Newsboys as lead singer in 2009. He recently announced on Facebook his departure from Newsboys It remains to be seen what he will do next. Here's the video for Lose This Life by Tait.
