Artist:Coro
Song:Where Are You Tonight
Album:Freestyle Explosion Volume 2
Like many Freestyle singers, Jose Coro had very brief success on the dance charts with Where Are You Tonight and a couple of other songs. He only recorded one album. He still performs today on the Freestyle nostalgia circuit. Coro was born in New York City but he grew up in Miami. He is of Cuban and Dominican descent. Coro started out in acting. But he really wanted to sing. His attempts to put a group together were unsuccessful. Then he met Freestyle singer Stevie B who was just starting to have success and was getting ready to tour. So Coro joined Stevie B's band as a backup singer. After a while, Coro decided to move to New York and try to get a record deal. He signed with Aldo Marin's Freestyle label Cutting Records. Marin put Coro together with producer Zahid Tariq and the 1989 single Where Are You Tonight reached #25 on the dance chart. They decided to record an album and they got Charisma Records to distribute. Tariq wrote and produced everything and a couple of singles did well on the dance charts. Coro continued to record for Cutting until 1998 but nothing caught on. They tried different producers and that didn't work either. Coro's album is not available but you can get Where Are You Tonight on this Thump Records various artists comp. Coro released a single in 2011. And he continues to perform today on the Freestyle nostalgia circuit. Here's Coro performing Where Are You Tonight on a TV show.
