The Heights was a 1992 TV series about a fictional rock band trying to make it. The show aired on FOX from August to November in 1992. There were 13 episodes and it was cancelled due to low ratings. Capitol Records released a soundtrack album and the single How Do You Talk to an Angel topped the charts. The song appeared on the debut episode. The Heights was created by Tony Spiridakis and he wrote most of the episodes. He wrote the 1991 film Queens Logic. For the cast, he hired a mix of actors and musicians. The lead singer of How Do You Talk to an Angel was Jamie Walters. He appeared in the 1991 film Shout starring John Travolta as a music teacher. Walters sang in the film. Shawn David Thompson was lead singer of The Heights. He is now a film editor. Cheryl Pollak played sax. She was in eight episodes of Melrose Place in 1994. She seems to be retired. Charlotte Ross played guitar. She was a regular on NYPD Blue from 2001-04. Zachary Throne played keyboards. He was in the band Alley Cats LV. Alex Desert played bass. He was a regular on the sitcom Becker. Ken Garito was the drummer. He does bit parts in films and TV. The soundtrack was produced by Steve Tyrell, his wife Stephanie, Guy Moon and Barry Coffing. Tyrell is a jazz singer and songwriter. Moon and Coffing compose for TV and films. Though the cast sang the songs, session musicians played the music. On How Do You Talk to an Angel, session musician Brandon Fields played the sax solo and session musician Bob Mann played the guitar solo. This album is available as a budget CD. Jamie Walters was a regular on Beverly Hills 90210 in 1994. Then he released three unsuccessful albums on Atlantic. He became a firefighter in 2002. Steve Tyrell produced the first two albums. And Tyrell and Moon produced music for the kids show California Dreams from Saved By the Bell creator Peter Engel. This show ran from 1992-96. So there's a one hit wonder for you.
