AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Modjo

Artist:Modjo

Song:Lady (Hear Me Tonight)

Album:Kiss House Nation 2001

The 2000 single Lady (Hear Me Tonight) was a big hit in Europe and on the dance charts. The French duo who recorded this split up soon after the album was released in 2001. Romain Tranchart produced the music and Yann Destal was the singer. Both guys were born in Paris. Tranchart grew up in Brazil and learned to play guitar. When he returned to Paris, he was in a rock band. After they split up, he got interested in house music and released a single as Funk Legacy. Then he attended the American School of Modern Music in Paris. That's where he met Destal who was influenced by rock acts and learned to play drums. He was also in a few bands before he met Tranchart. They decided to call themselves Modjo. The 2000 single Lady (Hear Me Tonight) was released on Universal's Barclay label. It samples the 1982 Chic song Soup for One. The single topped the charts across Europe and in England. Then it was picked up by MCA in the US and topped the dance charts there. The album Dodjo was released in 2001. By that time, most listeners had forgotten about Modjo. So attempts to score another hit single that could sell the album were unsuccessful. You can get Lady (Hear Me Tonight) on this 2CD various artists budget comp. Dodjo only released one album. Tranchart has been a producer with various partners ever since. Destal released albums in 2003 and 2013. Here's the video for Lady (Hear Me Tonight) by Modjo.
