Miesha Tate, Sara McMann |
On last night's episode of UFC Tonight, it was announced that Miesha Tate vs Sara McMann has been added to UFC 183 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Jan. 31. I expect this to air on the main card. I've known about this for a couple of weeks but I didn't know the date. Both fighters want to get back into the title picture but they have to do more than just win. Neither has done that lately. Miesha won her last fight over Rin Nakai but if Rin comes out more aggressively at the start of the fight, it might have been a different story. Sara got the decision over Lauren Murphy in her last fight. But a lot of observers thought Lauren got robbed. Those kind of wins don't lead to title shots. One of them has to stand out and I don't know if either can do that. There was talk of Miesha possibly facing Bethe Correia. They were yammering at each other on Twitter. Today Bethe told Guillerme Cruz of MMA Fighting that she is out with an injury and will return in March. In other injury news, Holly Holm is out of her fight vs Raquel Pennington. Her manager Lenny Fresquez told the Albuquerque Journal she suffered a neck injury in training. She could be out for a while if she needs surgery. A replacement has not been announced.
