AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Los Bukis

Artist:Los Bukis

Song:Falso Amor

Album:30 Inolvidables

The 1974 single Falso Amor was the first big hit for the Mexican group Los Bukis. They were very popular until they split up in 1996 and they have since reformed. The group was formed by lead singer, songwriter and keyboardist Marco Antonio Solis and his guitarist cousin Joel Solis. At first they called themselves Los Hermanitos Solis and then changed it to Los Bukis which translates to The Kids. They have had various members over the years. But Marco writes and sings all the songs. And the only reason Los Bukis split up in 1996 was Marco wanted to go solo. Los Bukis signed with Melody Records which was purchased by Fonovisa and more recently Universal. After Falso Amor (False Love) became a big hit in 1974, their debut album Casas De Carton was retitled Falso Amor with a new cover. Falso Amor sold a million copies in the first month of release. Los Bukis was very successful especially after they moved to the US in the 80s. Marco's songs were recorded by other artists. So it got to a point in the 80s where he was writing and producing all of Los Bukis' recordings. Not surprisingly Marco got the itch to go solo. He left in 1996 for a very successful solo career. The rest of the band stayed together as Los Mismos which means the same members of Los Bukis. When Marco's solo career ran its course, he reformed Los Bukis in 2021. They have not recorded new music but they have been touring. This comp is a good intro to their music. Here's Los Bukis performing Falso Amor on the 1977 TV show Siempro De Domingo.
