Song:A Jack With One Eye
Album:Do You Know Who You Are?: The Complete Collection
The post punk band Texas Is The Reason only recorded one album in 1996. The album was critically acclaimed and loved by fans. But they split up soon after. They were formed in New York City by former Shelter guitarist Norman Brannon and former 108 drummer Chris Daly. Both guys are Hare Krishna devotees. Shelter and 108 were Krishnacore bands. I couldn't believe there is a name for that. They brought in former Fountainhead bassist Scott Winegard and Garrett Klahn as lead singer. He was a bassist for Buffalo's Copper. The band name is from The Misfits song Bullet which is about John F. Kennedy assassination conspiracy theories. After releasing an EP and a single, Texas Is The Reason signed with Revelation Records for the 1996 album Do You Know Who You Are?. This critically acclaimed album did well enough that major labels came calling. They were about to sign with Capitol Records when during a European tour, Brannon and Daly weren't getting along and they decided to split up after the tour was over. Their final show was in Germany. It's likely that if Texas Is The Reason had continued, they could have had commercial success on Capitol. In 2013, Revelation released an expanded version of Do You Know Who You Are? with several bonus tracks. Klahn joined New Rising Sons and is now in Atlantic/Pacific. Daly joined Jets To Brazil. Brannon and Winegard formed New End Original. Texas Is The Reason has reunited three times, most significantly for the Revelation Records 25th Anniversary concert in 2012. And here's Texas Is The Reason performing A Jack With One Eye from that concert.
