AccuRadio Song Of The Day-J. Holiday

Artist:J.Holiday
Song:Suffocate
Album:Back Of My Lac'

Suffocate was the second of two hit singles from J. Holiday's 2007 debut CD Back Of My Lac'. He still tours and he has a new album coming but he hasn't had the same success since his debut. He was born Nahum Grymes Nov. 29, 1982 in Washington, DC. He's a Preacher's Kid. His dad died when he was 11 but his mom made sure he attended church and finished high school before pursuing a music career. His demo got him a deal with Capitol Records. Grymes wrote and produced the 2007 album Back Of My Lac' with various producers. But both of his hit singles were written with Terrius "The-Dream" Nash. Though Nash has had some hits as a singer on the R&B charts, he co-wrote Umbrella for Rihanna among other things. Most of his success has been as a songwriter. The first single Bed reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the R&B charts. Nash wrote and produced it with frequent partner Carlos "Los Da Mystro" McKinney. The second single Suffocate reached #18 on the Billboard Hot 100. Nash wrote that with producer Christopher "Tricky" Stewart. Back Of My Lac' was certified Gold. Grymes' 2009 album Round 2 didn't do nearly as well. Apparently Grymes was conflicting with Capitol and they decided not to promote it. He left Capitol and signed with Def Jam. He left Def Jam before recording an album. He finally released an album on his own label in 2014. Grymes has a new album Time coming shortly and he is currently on tour. Here's the video for Suffocate by J. Holiday.
