AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Sarah McLachlan

Artist:Sarah McLachlan
Song:I Will Remember You
Album:The Essential Sarah McLachlan

Canadian singer songwriter Sarah McLachlan was successful in the 90s partially as the founder of Lilith Fair. Though not her biggest hit, I Will Remember You from the 1995 film The Brothers McMullen is one of her most memorable songs. She was born Jan. 28, 1968 in Halifax, NS. She studied classical guitar, piano and voice at The Maritime Conservatory of Music. While leading her band The October Game, Nettwerk Records offered Sarah a record deal. She eventually moved to Vancouver. Her 1987 debut album Touch did well enough in Canada that as of the 1991 CD Solace, Sarah got a US record deal with Arista. That's when she started working with Pierre Marchand who has produced most of her albums. The 1993 album Fumbling Towards Ecstasy was Sarah's commercial breakthrough. It was certified 3XPlatinum. But she still needed that hit single. She finally got that in 1995 with I Will Remember You. That appeared on the soundtrack of the 1995 film The Brothers McMullen. She wrote it with film composer Seamus Eagan. Arista added the song to some versions of Fumbling Towards Ecstasy and it was also on a 1996 Rarities album. I suggest the 2CD comp The Essential Sarah McLachlan. The 1997 album Surfacing was probably Sarah's biggest commercial success. Adia and Angel were both top ten pop hits. A 1999 live version of I Will Remember You from the album Mirrorball was a top 20 hit. After that Sarah faded and left Nettwerk and Arista in 2010. Her last couple of albums have been for Verve, most recently the 2016 Christmas album Wonderland. Of course Sarah is also known for founding the women's concert series Lilith Fair after becoming frustrated with sexist concert promoters. Sarah was touring earlier this year. But it looks like she is finishing a new album for a 2020 release. Here's the video for I Will Remember You by Sarah McLachlan.
