Album:When It's Dark Out
Me, Myself & I was the first of two top ten pop hits for rapper Gerald "G-Eazy" Gillum. Like a lot of rappers, he does a lot of guest shots, most significantly on hits by Grace and Britney Spears. He was born May 24, 1989 in Oakland, CA. While attending Loyola University in New Orleans, Gillum met Christoph Andersson who still works with him today. After graduating, Gillum returned to Oakland and got involved in the local rap scene. He started releasing mixtapes. After a cover of Runaround Sue from the 2011 mixtape The Endless Summer got four million views on Youtube, he went on the 2012 Vans Warped Tour and released the 2013 album Must Be Nice. Gillum signed with RCA for the 2014 album These Things Happen. He continued to tour. The album was certified Platinum but there were no hit singles. That changed when the single Me, Myself & I from the 2015 album When It's Dark Out reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album was certified Platinum. Bebe Rexha wrote and recorded the song as I Don't Need Anything for her own album. But Warner Bros. didn't like it so she played it for Gillum. They rewrote it to feature his rap and changed the title to Me, Myself & I. That's why the recording sounds like he's the guest star. Gillum toured to support the album. His latest CD The Beautiful & The Damned was released in 2017. No Limit was Gillum's second top ten hit. But the album wasn't as well received. It was mostly produced by Jonathan "Dakari" St. Aimee who has worked with LFO and O-Town. Meanwhile, Gillum was charged with assault May 2018 in Stockholm, Sweden. He pled guilty and was fined. He has a new album coming out soon. Here's the video of Me, Myself & I by G-Eazy featuring Bebe Rexha.
