AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Crucial Conflict

Artist:Crucial Conflict
Song:Hay
Album:The Final Tic

The rap group Crucial Conflict scored a top twenty hit in 1996 with Hay. They are still around but it's their only hit single to date. Crucial Conflict are from Chicago led by Ralph "Wildstyle" Leverston. He writes and produces all the music. Other members are Wondosas "Kilo" Martin, Corey "Coldhard" Johnson and Marrico "Never" King. After releasing a 1993 EP, Crucial Conflict signed with Pallas Records with Universal distribution. The executive producer was hip hop pioneer Fred "Fab 5 Freddy" Brathwaite, host of Yo! MTV Raps. The 1996 album The Final Tic was their major label debut. The single Hay reached #18 on the Billboard Hot 100. Of course the song is about weed and Crucial Conflict had this wild west thing they liked to portray. Leverston wrote and produced Hay and used a sample from the Funkadelic song I'll Stay. The album was certified Gold. The 1998 album Good Side, Bad Side didn't do as well. Crucial Conflict was having problems with Universal so they split up in 1999. They returned with the 2006 album Planet Crucion on their own label. That's Crucial Conflict's latest CD though they surface occasionally to perform live. And Leverston released a solo album in 2009. But like I always say, being a one hit wonder is better than no hits at all. Here's the video for Hay by Crucial Conflict.
