AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Buddy

Artist:Buddy f/Ty Dolla $ign
Song:Hey Up There
Album:Harlan & Alondra

Buddy is a rapper who has mostly appeared as a guest on other folks records. He released his debut album last year and had chart success with the single Hey Up There. He was born Simmie Sims III Sept. 10, 1993 in Compton, CA. Buddy is a childhood nickname. His father is a preacher so he grew up in church. Sims was 15 years old when Pharrell Williams heard him and signed him to his I Am Other label. After releasing a couple of singles and a 2014 mixtape, Sims started to do guest shots with Nipsey Hussle and Chance The Rapper among others. He released the single Shine in 2016 which was streamed 12 million times on iTunes. Then he released the 2017 EP Ocean & Montana produced by DJ Kaytranada. Finally he signed a deal for his own label with RCA. And he released the 2018 album Harlan & Alondra. Most of the album was produced by Mike & Keys who also produced Shine. They have also worked with Nipsey Hussle. Hey Up There featured rapper Ty Dolla Sign and it did well enough on the R&B charts that Sims seems to have a bright future. The single was produced by brothers Khalid and Rashad Muhammad, known as HazeBanga. The album is available as a digital download only. Sims toured with Joey Badass and A$AP Ferg. Now that he has his own label, I expect Sims to record sooner rather than later. Here's the video for Hey Up There by Buddy featuring Ty Dolla $ign.
