AccuRadio Song Of The Day-LCD Soundsystem

Artist:LCD Soundsystem
Song:Drunk Girls
Album:This Is Happening

LCD Soundsystem is one of the more popular indie bands over the last decade. Though they have never had a hit single, their albums do very well. The 2010 CD This Is Happening is their biggest seller to date. They disbanded but have reformed and a new CD is coming out this year. LCD Soundsystem is led by James Murphy. He writes and performs everything on the albums and he has a touring band. He was born Feb. 4, 1970 in Princeton Junction, NJ. His main influences are Talking Heads and The Velvet Underground. He was in a couple of bands in the 80s. He formed his own DFA label in 1993. The idea was to have an outlet for his DJ work. And that's how LCD Soundsystem started as an electronic dance act. But by the 2010 CD This Is Happening, Murphy turned LCD Soundsystem into a retro 80s punk new wave group. Drunk Girls was the first single. The Spike Jonze directed video is crazy with Murphy and touring band members Pat Mahoney and Nancy Whang bring attacked by pandas. The album reached #10 on the Billboard Hot 200 without a hit single. But Murphy said before the album release that this would be the final LCD Soundsystem album. They played their final show at Madison Square Garden Apr. 2, 2011. Murphy got into record production and other things. In Oct. 2015, it was reported that LCD Soundsystem was reforming. After several denials, it turned out to be true. They signed with Columbia and LCD Soundsystem started playing gigs. The new album should be released sometime in 2016. Here's the video for Drunk Girls by LCD Soundsystem.
