Artist:The Dylans
Song:Planet Love
Album:The Dylans
The neo psychedelic band The Dylans had their biggest success with the 1991 single Planet Love. They had a couple more hits in England but after their second album flopped they split up. The Dylans were from Sheffield, England led by lead singer and bassist Colin Gregory along with guitarists Jim Rodger and Andy Curtis. Gregory was a member of the 80s group 1000 Violins. After signing with Beggars Banquet, keyboard player Quentin Jennings and drummer Garry Jones completed the lineup and they started playing gigs. Their first single Godlike was a top ten hit on the British indie singles chart. This convinced Beggars Banquet's US distributor RCA to release The Dylans debut CD in the US. Meanwhile Curtis was replaced by Andy Cook. The single Planet Love performed well on the dance and modern rock charts. And The Dylans got a very positive response at live shows. After touring, Jones left and Cook was moved to drums. Craig Scott was added on guitar. Jennings left as his wife was ill and was replaced by Ike Glover. The Dylans signed a new US record deal with Atlantic but the 1993 CD Spirit Finger was not well received critically and did not sell. The Dylans disbanded in 1994. One would think that Planet Love would be on a lot of various artists comps. It isn't but The Dylans 1991 CD is available. Here's the video for Planet Love by The Dylans.
