Jimi Hendrix was so good for the few years he was around that even a throwaway song like Fire still holds up well today. It's obviously not even the strongest song on the 1967 Are You Experienced album with Noel Redding on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums. Hendrix has one of his great trademark solos here. This Experience Hendrix comp is probably the best one disc comp available and a good introduction to beginners. There's so much Hendrix on CD and a lot of it isn't compiled very well. It's difficult to know what to get. Start with this. Jimi Hendrix is the place to start if you want to learn about rock guitarists. Here's Jimi Hendrix performing Fire at Woodstock.
