Artist:Hezekiah Walker & The Love Fellowship Crusade Choir
Song:How Much Can We Bear
Album:Live In New York By Any Means...
It's not that unusual in the gospel music business for church choirs to grow into something much bigger than the church. Such is the case with Brooklyn, NY pastor Hezekiah Walker. He's known as The Hip Hop Minister because of the many hip hop artists who come to him for advice, most significantly Sean Combs. Walker and his choir started recording in 1989 and have an international following because of their energy and musicianship. He started out with Benson Records and moved to Verity in the mid 90s. 1997's Live In New York is a very typical concert recording. How Much We Can Bear was written by veteran percussionist David Frazier and arranged by Walker's right hand man Jules Bartholemew. This is a big choir so it's probably easier to record live and a lot of choir leaders prefer the energy they get from an audience on their recordings. This song is a mass choir song though they have guest vocalists sometimes. The 2004 comp Nothing But The Hits would be a good introduction to Walker's music. His most recent recording is 2005's 20/85 Experience. Here's Hezekiah Walker & The Love Fellowship Crusade Choir performing How Much We Can Bear in Los Angeles 1997.
