The NASCAR Busch Series returned to Darlington for the Diamond Hill Plywood 200 on Friday night. The turn two wall got a workout as usual with plenty of guys leaving a Darlington Stripe. But the top of the racetrack is faster than the bottom and that's different than most other tracks. The track will be repaved this year and it should be interesting to see how that affects the track. Denny Hamlin won the pole.
Denny Hamlin's #20 Rockwell Automation Chevy leads at the start. Matt Kenseth's #17 Dish Network Ford takes the lead on lap 18. Caution for debris on lap 24. Kenseth collides with Casey Mears' #24 National Guard Chevy on pit road. Hamlin leads on the restart but Greg Biffle's #37 Cub Cadet Ford takes the lead on lap 37. On lap 45, Aric Almirola's #18 Banquet Foods Chevy crashes into the wall with Todd Kleuver's #16 3M Ford. The leaders stay out but guys farther back pit.
On lap 55, Brent Sherman's #36 Big Lots Chevy spins to bring out a caution. The leaders pit but the guys who pitted during the last caution stay out. Regan Smith's #4 Ginn Resorts Chevy is the leader. On lap 66, Tony Stewart's #33 Old Spice Chevy & Ryan Newman's #12 Kodak Dodge are running into each other down the front stretch. Newman gets a flat tire which catches fire in the pits. Steve Wallace's #66 HomeLIfe Communities Dodge spins on lap 75. Jason Leffler's #38 Great Clips Toyota takes the lead on the restart.
Denny Hamlin takes the lead on lap 97. Matt Kenseth hits the wall on lap 113 to bring out a caution. Everyone makes final pit stops and Hamlin continues to lead. Hamlin holds off Carl Edwards' #60 Scott's Miracle Gro Ford & Mark Martin's #5 Hendrick Autoguard Chevy. Bobby Labonte's #77 Dollar General Chevy hits the wall on lap 142. NASCAR throws the red flag. Hamlin holds onto the lead for the win. Martin passes Edwards for second. Edwards still leads the points.
