Here's the match video of Io Shirai vs Candice LeRae from last night's episode of NXT. This led off the show starting with Poppy performing Io's theme live during Io's entrance. That should get your attention. I don't think it's as good as their Takeover match. This is a lot shorter than that match. And also they block each other's moves because Candice knows what Io will do and vice versa. But it's still really good. Among other things, Io sells Candice's tornado DDT like she was really injured. Candice is bleeding from the nose and at one point Io smears the blood. So the match is very much a chess match. The end comes when Io grabs a chair from beneath the ring. The ref stops her from using it. But it's still in the ring. Candice attempts a quebrada from the middle rope. Io moves and Candice hits the chair face first. That's it. Another big win for Io Shirai. Io continues to attack Candice. And just as she's about to hit her with the chair, Rhea Ripley makes the save. Io powders.
