Here's the match video of Io Shirai vs Mia Yim from last night's episode of NXT. Both are looking to get back into the NXT Women's Championship picture. The first thing you will notice is refinements to Io's entrance and also new ring gear. They may be telling her she's not crazy enough. Mia gets the jump on Io but Io turns it around. If I have a quibble about this match, it's probably that Mia gets way too much offense. I expected Io to win but I would like her to be more dominant. I've talked about this regarding Asuka too. Both of them are very generous in selling offense. But as a heel maybe Io needs to sell less and be more vicious. She can do her signature moves but add some nastiness. This is new to her. Io was a babyface for years. I don't think she is quite where she needs to be as a heel. When Io kicks out of Mia's Code Blue, that's the beginning of the end. And Io wins with her moonsault. There were two commercial breaks during this match. And even if they are using a live split screen (which you don't see on this video), they need to have less significant action during commercials. Is Io getting a title shot? She should but they may want to further frustrate the character. Enjoy the video!
