Here's the Shayna Baszler vs Io Shirai cage match from last week's episode of NXT. I finally found a copy of the video after my usual source didn't upload it. This match can be won by pinfall, submission or by escaping the cage. This match is definitely worth watching. It's not quite as good as Asuka vs Nikki Cross last woman standing but it's good until the overbooked ending. It's a back and forth match. Like most joshi wrestlers, Io sells offense like she is getting murdered. Selling is an area that Shayna needs to work on. When it looks like Io is getting the best of Shayna, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir assault the ref and lock the door. And that's when Io climbs to the top of the cage. When Marina and Jessamyn follow her up, Candice LeRae arrives and does a cross body from the top of the cage onto Jessamyn. Then of course Io moonsaults from the top of the cage onto Shayna. Well, you knew she was gonna do that. Both of them crawl to the door. While Shayna is choking out Io, Io smacks the cage door on Shayna's head three times. This knocks her out but she tumbles to the floor to win the match. You can see Shayna asking the ref what happened. I'm OK with the finish because it leads to Io turning on Candice and hammering her with a chair. The Japanese media is already calling her Black Io. I always wanted the WWE to turn Asuka heel. Now we get to see Io as a badass heel. I am looking forward to it. Enjoy the video!
