Song:Open The Heavens
Album:Monuments
Gateway is the Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) group formerly known as Gateway Worship. They are similar to Hillsong United and other Praise & Worship (P&W) acts. Gateway is not as bland as some of those groups. I think the musicianship is at a higher level. Gateway started at the Gateway Church in Southlake, TX. They are led by Pastor Thomas Miller. They signed with Integrity Music since 2003. They have been releasing albums regularly since then. They are very popular in the Christian market and the albums have crossed over to mainstream. As of the 2017 album Monuments, they have shortened their name to Gateway. This was after Integrity was sold to Fair Trade. They are distributed by Columbia. Gateway Worship also releases live albums, sermons, kids music and albums in Spanish and Portuguese. The guy in charge of the music is Mark Harris. He's a former member of the popular CCM group 4Him. After some solo albums, he joined Gateway in 2013. Miller seems to be more of an overseer now. Harris is involved in the songwriting and he sings lead sometimes. Cole Novak is the lead singer on Open The Heavens. He also co-wrote the song and he plays guitar. As you can see in the video, it's a large band. As I said, I like Gateway a little better than similar P&W groups. The music has more bite to it. But at the end of the day, this kind of music is aimed at the faithful. Monuments is their latest studio album. They released two live albums last year. They churn out a lot of product. Here's the video for Open The Heavens by Gateway.
