Artist:T.G. Sheppard
Song:I Loved 'Em Every One
Album:Best of T.G. Sheppard

T.G. Sheppard scored 14 number one country music hits from 1974-86. The 1981 single I Loved 'Em Every One crossed over to pop so it was probably his biggest hit. I would describe his music as country pop. Sheppard had a very interesting route to stardom. He was born William Neal Browder July 20, 1944 in Humboldt, TN. He is the nephew of Grand Ole Opry comedian Rod Brasfield. At age 16 he ran away from home to Memphis to join The Travis Wammack Band. He called himself Brian Stacy probably because he didn't want his parents to find him. He recorded a couple of singles including one for Atlantic's Atco label that was a Southern regional hit. As Brian Stacy, Sheppard opened for The Beach Boys and he became friends with Elvis Presley. Presley got him a job with RCA as a record plugger. And he started his own promotion company. He was plugging the song Devil in a Bottle. When all the labels turned the song down, Sheppard recorded it himself for Motown's new country label Melodyland. He called himself T.G. Sheppard. It was his first number one country hit. He recorded three albums before Motown closed the label. He signed with Warner Bros. and producer Buddy Killen. He had plenty of success there. Sheppard was probably one of that era's biggest stars. The 1981 single I Loved 'Em Every One was the biggest of those hits. It not only topped the country charts but it reached #37 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #3 on the Adult Contemporary chart. The song was the only hit written by Phil Sampson. This comp covers Sheppard's Warner recordings. He moved to Columbia in 1985. He wasn't as successful there and he was gone by 1988. He hasn't recorded much since then though he just released a new single. In the 90s, he had his own theater in the Great Smoky Mountains. Since the building was sold in 1997, Sheppard returned to the road and he continues to tour today. Here's T.G. Sheppard performing I Loved 'Em Every One on the 90s TV show Church Street Station.
