Here's the fight video of Virna Jandiroba vs Amanda Lemos from last night's UFC show in Las Vegas. This fight is at Strawweight and is a five round main event. I'm sure the UFC's preference would have been to have Virna face Tatiana Suarez in a title eliminator. But Tatiana is injured so this will have to do. Virna is 36 years old from Bahia, Brazil. She trains at Academia Fight Hiuse. Her UFC record is 6-3 and she is on a three fight win streak. Virna is a BJJ whiz who has raised her intensity since becoming a title contender. She has admitted that she is too nice. I think training at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas has helped her. Amanda is 37 years old from Para, Brazil. She trains at Marajo Brothers Team which is the Alcantara brothers who both used to be in the UFC. Her UFC record is 8-3 and one of those losses was for the Strawweight title to Zhang Weili. Amanda is a hard puncher so keeping the fight standing is her route to victory. But instead she decides to grapple with Virna. Of course this was a big mistake and it led to Virna winning with an armbar at the end of round two. I don't know why she did that. It didn't make any sense last night and it still doesn't make sense. Virna now wants a title shot. But that depends on Tatiana Suarez. I doubt she could beat Zhang Weili but she deserves a chance.
