Song:Here I Go Again
Album:Rock of Ages: Original Broadway Cast Recording
Do you all know what a Jukebox Musical is? There are plenty of them on Broadway these days. It's a musical usually with no story, just the songs. That's why it's called a Jukebox Musical. Most Jukebox Musicals are about a performer or songwriter. But Rock of Ages is about hard rock. It's not devoted to one band. A lot of these bands didn't have many hits. So if you like that music, Rock of Ages might be for you. Rock of Ages was written by Chris D'Arienzo, directed by Kristin Hanggi, choreographed by Kelly Devine and orchestrated by Ethan Popp. The show started out in Los Angeles in 2005 and ran on Broadway from 2009-15. So obviously it was very successful. Though most of the songs are performed in an ensemble setting, the two main performers are Amy Spanger and Constantine Maroulis. I have featured Amy before so I will tell you about Maroulis. He is probably best known for finishing sixth in the 2004 season of American Idol. He was nominated for a Tony for Rock of Ages. He was born Sept. 17, 1975 in Brooklyn, NY and he grew up in Wyckoff, NJ. He became famous when he finished sixth on the 2004 season of American Idol. He made his Broadway debut on the 2006 musical The Wedding Singer. He's appeared in some other shows but Rock of Ages is the big one. He got a Tony nomination. The Whitesnake song Here I Go Again is performed at the end of act one. It's an ensemble led by Maroulis and Amy. Maroulis has also appeared in movies and on TV. And he has released three albums. But most of his success has been on Broadway. Here's Constantine Maroulis, Amy Spanger and company performing a rehearsal of Here I Go Again.
